Cory grew up in the Mississippi Delta where he and his friends learned to use the performing arts as their main source of entertainment. In a town with little else to do, Cory kept busy juggling community theatre plays, school productions, and playing the trombone along with other various extracurricular activities. By the time Cory graduated high school, he had accumulated over 20 stage credits and had been awarded the Youth Drama Award by the local theatre and Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dr. Alan Swinford in David and Lisa at the Mississippi Theatre Association Festival.
